Tips to Help Your Toddler LOVE to Brush

February is my favorite month of the year – it’s Children’s Dental Health Month! I LOVE teaching parents and kids how to keep their teeth strong and healthy. Today, I’m going to share a few top tips I’ve gathered over the years to help teach your toddler to LOVE to brush his or her teeth.
1. Make it fun!
Find fun sing-along videos and songs to play during brush time. My wife Sarah and I use this time to sing the ABC’s with our son. There are times that it is a struggle but most of the time he’s happy to sing with mom and dad.
2. Let your toddler choose his or her own toothbrush!
The oral care aisles at local drug stores are packed FULL of princesses, superheroes, and your child’s favorite characters. Make it an event! Take your little one to the aisle and let them choose their very OWN toothbrush – this will make brush time even more personal, special, and fun! Spiderman and Curious George are favorites in our household.
3. There’s an app for that
Download these fun apps and before you know it, your kids might be reminding YOU that it’s time for them to brush their teeth!
Oral-B Disney Magic Timer™
Brush DJ
Toothsavers Brushing Game
4. Download a FREE Tooth Fairy Receipt PDF
Dr. Stonebraker and the team at Redmond Signature Dentistry are happy to share a FREE downloadable Tooth Fairy Receipt! Download it here.
It’s never too early to help your kids develop good hygiene habits, which will set them up for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums! Oh, and did I mention that February 28th is National Tooth Fairy Day?
